The total import and export volume reached US$ 392.1 billion. The import and export volume of service trade was US$ 25.61 billion.
1462 foreign investment projects were newly established in 2021, increasing by 16.4% over the previous year. The actual utilization of foreign capital totaled US$ 6.99 billion, 26.2% increase over the past year.
At the end of 2021, 156 Fortune global 500 multinational companies invested and started 441 projects in Suzhou. There are 20 new regional headquarters (functional institutes) of multinational companies recognized by the province.
The two cases of Suzhou Free Trade Zone have been awarded as the best practice cases by the State Council for promoting service trade innovation and development pilot project in all rounds.
Suzhou actively participated in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, completed 86 overseas Chinese contracted investment projects with an investment of US$ 667 million. 500 China-Europe freight trains were sent throughout the year; freight- loaded lorries set out for 1054 trips from Suzhou to Southeast Asia in an accumulative manner.
